This website, barbarademone.com, is operated by Barbara Demone, author and keynote speaker, based in Oakville, Ontario.
Information we collect
Information you provide to us
When you use the contact form to get in touch — for a speaking inquiry, a media request, or any other reason — we collect whatever you enter into that form: your name, email address, organization, event details if applicable, and the contents of your message.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting server automatically logs standard technical data when you visit: your IP address, browser type, the pages you view, and the time and date of your visit. We do not currently run Google Analytics or any similar visitor-tracking or advertising service on this site.
How we use your information
- To respond to your speaking inquiry, media request, or question
- To communicate with you about an event or request you’ve made
- To protect the site and its visitors from spam and abuse
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising or marketing you haven’t asked for.
Third parties that may process your information
We don’t share your information for marketing purposes. A small number of service providers process data on our behalf, strictly to run the site and handle your inquiry:
- Web hosting: our hosting provider stores the site’s files and database, and by necessity has access to them. Our hosting servers are located in the United States.
- Content delivery network: we use a CDN service to speed up page loading, which may briefly route your request through its own servers.
- Email delivery: contact form submissions are delivered to us by email through a transactional email service. The message content passes through that service’s infrastructure in order to reach our inbox.
- Google reCAPTCHA: our contact form uses Google’s reCAPTCHA to screen for spam. Loading it sends some technical information about your browser and device to Google. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
- YouTube: some pages embed videos hosted on YouTube. Loading an embedded video may involve data collection by YouTube/Google under their own privacy policy, independent of this site.
Google’s services (reCAPTCHA and YouTube) may process data outside Canada. If our site contains links to other third-party sites — such as retailers selling Barbara’s book, or social media profiles — those sites have their own privacy policies, and this policy doesn’t apply once you leave our site.
How long we keep your information
We keep contact form submissions only as long as needed to respond to your inquiry and for a reasonable period afterward in case of follow-up, unless we’re required to keep it longer by law.
Security
We take reasonable, commercially standard steps to protect any personal information you share with us from loss, misuse, or unauthorized access. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security.
Your rights under PIPEDA
Under Canada’s PIPEDA, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that’s inaccurate or out of date
- Withdraw consent for us to use your information, subject to legal or contractual limits
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We’ll respond within 30 days, as required by PIPEDA.

If we change this policy, the updated version will be posted here with a new “last updated” date.
